Academic Coaching Specialists are ready to jump in to help the Bobcats this semester! Our team of professional educators make academic coaching or tutoring for Ohio University students, easy and affordable.
Why settle for just tutoring when you student could have a one-on-one personal coach who can lead them on a path to better grades, more free time, and less stress? Tutoring can be very beneficial when your student is having trouble understanding content or concepts being taught in a specific class. Unlike tutoring, however, academic coaching covers an array of areas. An academic coach will teach them how to become a master student, effectively manage their time, build confidence, and much more! The strategies and skills introduced will create effective habits, which will lead to increased success in the classroom and beyond. Find out which one is best for your student by taking our brief needs analysis survey.
How Academic Coaching Works
An experienced educator will work with a student on a weekly basis. This takes place either in-person or remotely. The student will be required to do some outside reading or assignment between each session as assigned by the coach. The two then work together on building a relationship that provides mentorship and guidance for the student as they work toward becoming more independent in their learning.

NEARLY 1/3 OF COLLEGE FRESHMEN DROP OUT BEFORE THEIR SOPHOMORE YEAR

College Freshmen
Freshmen starting or continuing their first year are our most common clients. We find that the best approach to the Ohio University experience is a proactive one. Starting from the top, we work with students on what they already know from high school and build on those skills to create a powerful, college-crushing freshman! Ohio University students who start their freshman year with academic coaching find they are much more prepared than their peers. They are also less stressed and find they have more free time to enjoy non-academic activities. They also find it easier to transition to campus life in general.
Students on Academic Probation
Those who may have slipped up a bit last semester and end up on academic probation, can take part in our Academic 911 program for Ohio University students. This academic coaching program is designed to address the immediate problems in order to help the student raise their GPA and get back in good standing. Further, it teaches how to avoid potential issues in the future and strives to break any bad habits of the past. Coaches will identify any individual problems, and make any necessary referrals for tutoring or other campus resources if appropriate.
