Academic coaching or tutoring available to Malone University students in person or online. Academic Coaching Specialists are ready to help the Pioneers this semester!
Are you looking for a tutor for your student? Tutors are great to help with specific subjects, but have you ever considered an academic coach?
Unlike tutoring, academic coaching goes beyond just one subject area. With an academic coach, Malone students will learn how to become an overall better college student. They will learn time management techniques, build their confidence, and learn content more efficiently. Academic coaches introduce new learning tools and strategies that create effective habits, leading to increased success in the classroom and beyond.
How Academic Coaching Helps Students at Malone University
Working one-on-one with a coach will provide the necessary support for students to:
- Learn time good management and study skills
- Understand how to study for each class
- Learn the steps and strategies to effectively prepare for exams
- Yake the pain out of the process of writing a paper
- Begin to work on small tasks each day that will lead to overall success
How Academic Coaching Works
An experienced educator will work with the student on a weekly basis. This will take place either in person on campus, or via Zoom. The student will be required to do some outside reading or short assignment between each session as assigned by the coach. These will be geared toward helping the student with whatever issue they may be experiencing that particular week. The two work together to solve problems, building a relationship that provides mentorship and guidance for the student.
Is your student a chronic procrastinator? Unsure of how to take good notes? Wait until the last minute to study? Aren’t even sure how to study? Academic Coaching could be for them!
- Never wonder about how to start that paper
- Don’t stress about how to study for an upcoming test
- They won’t want to skip class anymore
- Taking notes has never been so easy
NEARLY 1/3 OF COLLEGE FRESHMEN DROP OUT BEFORE THEIR SOPHOMORE YEAR

From the Top: Freshmen
Freshmen starting or continuing their first year are our most common clients. We find that the best approach to academic coaching is a proactive one. Starting from the top, we work with students on what they already know from high school and build on those skills to create an even better college champion. Malone University students who start their freshman year with academic coaching find they are much more prepared and ahead of their peers. They are also less stressed and find they have more free time to enjoy non-academic activities.
Stuck in the Middle
Students who find themselves on academic probation at Malone University can take part in our Academic 911 program. This academic coaching program is designed to address the immediate problems in order to get the student out of the hole and back in good standing. Further, it teaches how to avoid potential issues in the future and strives to break any bad habits of the past. Coaches will identify any individual problems, and make any necessary referrals for tutoring if appropriate.
Online Course Support
Academic Coaching Specialists can help students at Malone University remain focused and engaged in these types of courses. Tutoring is not always the best answer for these types of courses, as the material is not typically the problem. Rather, the ability to see things laid out and in order, along with some incremental motivation is usually all that is needed to see a vast improvement. Providing accountability and a step-by-step plan, you may find you actually can enjoy an asynchronous course! Our coaches will stay involved each week, making sure you are not overwhelmed or procrastinating on getting things completed.
Top athletes have trainers and coaches to help them reach their potential. Why shouldn’t students? Putting an academic coach in your corner today can ensure you will have the all-around support needed to get through even the toughest semester.
